Astar Foundation has always been focused on building a thriving ecosystem. Astar Contribution Score (ACS) campaign on Soneium is the latest initiative in this direction. This campaign is designed to engage users and projects alike, expanding the utility of ASTR, the native token of Astar Network. Let us dive deep into the design of the ACS campaign, how it drives Astar’s growth, and other things you need to know.
TL;DR
The ACS campaign is designed to incentivize adoption and establish a sustainable economic flywheel for the ASTR token within the Soneium ecosystem.
From the ACS campaign, we can expect:
- Utility expansion of ASTR
- Onchain holder growth of ASTR
- Deeper strategic alignment with Soneium
- Preparation for broader adoption across the entire Superchain ecosystem
The campaign will last 100 days from February 20 to May 30, 2025, with a reward pool of 100 million ASTR tokens.
What is the Astar Contribution Score (ACS)?
At its core, ACS is a score-based incentive mechanism designed to reward users for their contributions within the Soneium ecosystem. It targets active participants — those engaging with applications, providing liquidity to DeFi platforms, and interacting with web3 applications across the board. The ACS model ensures that these contributions translate into real rewards in the form of ASTR tokens, with up to 100M earmarked for eligible users.
Why This Is Going to Be Supportive for ASTR and Astar Collective
The ACS campaign is a strategic initiative to maximize ASTR’s utility and strengthen its position within the Soneium ecosystem across DeFi, consumer, and gaming applications, fostering a flywheel effect.
Astar Surge was the first step in reactivating onchain activity within the ecosystem, bringing new projects and users into Astar. The ACS campaign builds on this momentum, shifting the focus from short-term participation to sustained engagement and deeper ASTR integration across the Superchain ecosystem.
Campaign Design: The Blueprint of ACS
The ACS campaign is not just another marketing initiative — it's a well-thought-out strategy that combines decentralized governance with user incentives.
- Structure and Scoring - The campaign will reward users based on their interactions within Soneium's ecosystem, with over 30 applications participating in the campaign.
- Campaign Period and Distribution - Running from February 20th to May 30th, 2025, the ACS campaign spans 100 days. The scores will be distributed every 12 hours, ensuring continuous engagement throughout the campaign.
- Participating Projects and Eligible Assets - Projects like Velodrome, QuickSwap, and Stargate Finance, among others, will play a key role in the rewards distribution, with allocations influenced by their TVL. Additionally, assets such as ASTR, ETH, and USDC will earn a multiplier based on their contribution to the ecosystem’s growth.
Score Structure and Distribution
The total ACS supply of 1 billion will be allocated as follows:
- TVL-Based Allocation (70%) - The majority of the scores are distributed based on Total Value Locked, ensuring that liquidity providers and active participants receive incentives proportionate to their contributions.
- Discretionary Allocation (26.5%) - This portion is separately allocated to drive targeted ecosystem growth beyond pure liquidity measures:
- Consumer & Gaming Applications (15%) – Encouraging the adoption of ASTR within web3 gaming and consumer applications.
- DeFi Applications (11.5%) – Supporting DeFi protocols and incentivizing broader participation beyond TVL.
Additionally, 3.5% of the score pool is allocated for specific ecosystem initiatives:
- Astar Surge (2.5%) – Scores for users that participated in Astar Surge and bridged their liquidity to Soneium, ensuring continued engagement.
- Soneium Meme Spark Contest (0.5%) – Incentivizing community-driven creativity through a meme contest designed by SoneFi aims to elevate Soneium’s TVL and foster a meme-driven economy.
- Campaign Reserve (0.5%) – A flexible reserve to address unexpected campaign needs.
Seasonal Structure and Performance-Based Adjustments
The campaign is divided into 10 seasons of 10 days each. At the end of each season, a performance report will be published in the Astar Forum, detailing the performance of each participating dApp. Based on these insights, discretionary scores may be reallocated to optimize impact and ensure incentives are directed toward the most valuable contributors.
How to Earn ACS
TVL-Based Allocation scores are distributed across the following projects and eligible assets.
- Projects - Kyo Finance, QuickSwap, Sake Finance, SoneFi, SoneX, Sonus, Stargate Finance, SynStation, Untitled Bank, Velodrome, WaveX
- Eligible Asset Providers - Astar Network, Ethereum, Tether, Circle, Bifrost, Astake, Algem, Neemo Finance, Lido, Puffer Finance, StakeStone, Yay!, Solv Protocol, Sake Finance, WBTC
- Eligible Assets and Multipliers
Note: Participating projects, eligible assets, and their multipliers can be updated as we proceed with the campaign.
Discretionary Allocation rewards will be distributed at the discretion of each participating project, focusing on driving growth in key areas like consumer applications, gaming, and DeFi. These projects include:
- Consumer and Gaming Applications - Arkada, Biru, Derby Race, Evermoon, Fractal Visions, Mithraeum, Posse Studios, Sonova, SuperVol, SynStation, UneMeta
- DeFi Applications - Kyo Finance, QuickSwap, Sake Finance, SoneFi, SoneX, Sonus, Untitled Bank, Velodrome, WaveX
Further details about the exact discretionary allocation of ACS rewards will be shared in upcoming updates.
ACS to ASTR Conversion and How to Claim Your Rewards
Once the ACS campaign comes to a close, participants will be able to claim their rewards in ASTR. After the campaign ends, all accumulated ACS will be converted into ASTR at a fixed rate of 10 ACS = 1 ASTR.
To ensure a smooth claiming process, a dedicated reward claim page will be launched approximately one week after the campaign concludes. Participants will have a one-month window to claim their rewards before the claim page closes.
Key Outcomes: Preparing ASTR for the Superchain Era
- ASTR Utility Expansion – The ACS campaign's most significant impact will be the expansion of ASTR's use cases, particularly in DeFi and consumer applications. By making ASTR the preferred currency for transactions within the Soneium ecosystem, this campaign will lead to an influx of new ASTR holders and users, building a stronger network effect.
- Sustained Adoption and Value Growth – The ultimate goal is not just to reward participants but to create a sustainable ecosystem where ASTR becomes integral to every web3 interaction in Soneium, providing long-term value growth and positioning ASTR as a major player within the broader Superchain network.
- Incentives for Participation – Users will earn ASTR rewards ensuring that active contributors directly benefit from their engagement in the ecosystem.
Governance: Crafting a Campaign with the Community in Mind
The ACS system was shaped with direct Astar community feedback. The ACS campaign now features higher ASTR multipliers, governance-approved treasury allocation, an extended duration, and a 0.5% allocation for the Soneium Meme Spark Contest, ensuring fairer incentives and sustained engagement.
Burning Unclaimed Rewards - As part of Astar’s commitment to sustainable tokenomics, 20M ASTR in unclaimed rewards from past dApp staking cycles has been permanently burned. This reduces circulating supply, reinforcing ASTR’s long-term value proposition. The ACS campaign follows a similar approach — any unclaimed rewards post-campaign will be burned, ensuring that incentives are directed towards active participants while enhancing overall scarcity and demand dynamics.
Post-campaign, ASTR’s utility will continue to grow with the next staking cycle, where users can further benefit from holding ASTR within the ecosystem, thus supporting price stability.
Looking Ahead: What’s Next for ASTR?
The ACS campaign marks the first step in a broader strategy to expand ASTR’s adoption. As the campaign progresses, more user-generated content, new partnerships, and innovations will continue to emerge. Beyond the Soneium ecosystem, this expansion prepares ASTR, which is ready to be deployed as SuperchainERC20, for future integration across various L2 networks like Base and OP Mainnet, ensuring its role in the Superchain's growth.
Conclusion: The Path Forward for ASTR
By incentivizing active engagement and expanding ASTR’s utility, the ACS campaign lays the foundation for its widespread adoption. With the campaign's launch, it’s clear that ASTR is positioned to thrive — becoming not just a token, but a core pillar of the Soneium ecosystem.
