TL;DR
The Astar Community Program establishes a coherent framework for community participation through two interconnected initiatives: the Astar Ambassador Fellowship and the Governance Program.
- The Ambassador Fellowship creates structured contribution pathways across key areas such as content creation, community support, developer engagement, event organization, and business development.
- The Governance Program enables ASTR holders to understand and exercise their governance rights on Astar Governance.
Together, these initiatives establish the foundation for the Astar Collective, where responsibilities broaden to include councils, external contributors, and community governance.
The Astar Ambassador Fellowship: Progressive Recognition
The Astar Ambassador Fellowship (AAF) establishes a transparent progression system where contributors advance through verified onchain activity and sustained commitment. Five progressive roles recognize increasing levels of engagement and responsibility:
Earn Astar Points by completing tasks on Guild.xyz. Points reflect your consistency and engagement across the program and determine your eligibility for higher roles. Points never expire and appear on the public leaderboard, showcasing top contributors within the Astar community.
- Community Member: Anyone can get their first Soulbound NFT by completing Guild tasks.
- Ambassador Aspirant: Achieved at 1,000 Astar Points.
- Ambassador: Achieved at 3,000 Astar Points, and get Ambassador role Soulbound NFT.
- Mid Ambassador: Leadership role requiring 12 months of consistent activity and 10,000 Astar Points.
- Head Ambassador: Highest level of recognition within the Fellowship, appointed through Astar governance referendum.
Members advance through transparent criteria tracked onchain, with the Astar Community Council overseeing role transitions and reward distribution.
Specialization Tracks: Diverse Contributions, Unified Purpose
The Astar Ambassador Fellowship recognizes that valuable contributions take many forms. Five specialization tracks allow members to focus on their strengths while supporting network growth:
- Content Creation
- Community Moderation & Support
- Event Organization
- Developer Engagement & Onboarding
- Business Development & Partnerships
Ambassadors can contribute across multiple tracks as their skills evolve, with performance evaluated by the ACC.
The Astar Governance Program
The Astar Governance Program provides structured learning pathways covering:
- Proposal mechanisms
- Treasury operations
- Council elections
- Decision-making frameworks
The program also prepares participants for the governance evolution outlined in the Road to Evolution Phase 2 by equipping them for the expansion of responsibilities from councils and committees.
Guild.xyz: Transparent Tracking, Automated Rewards
The AAF operates through Guild.xyz, enabling transparent role tracking and automated rewards while removing manual coordination. The platform provides:
- Flexible infrastructure for adjusting task structures, rewards, and program parameters as Astar evolves.
- Soulbound NFT distribution serving as verifiable onchain credentials.
- Reputation tracking that records contribution history and persists across the ecosystem.
The Path to Full Onchain Governance
In the long term, the Astar Ambassador Fellowship aspires to evolve into a fully onchain governance system, drawing inspiration from other models such as the Polkadot Ambassador Pallet.
This future vision includes the possibility of establishing an Ambassador Collective DAO with region-based SubDAOs that could enable decentralized decision-making, transparent attestations, and autonomous treasury management while maintaining alignment with Astar's mission. As the program matures, these onchain mechanisms would provide the foundation for a more transparent and community-driven ambassador ecosystem.
Why This Matters: Preparing for Community-Led Astar
The Astar Community Program supports the journey toward Evolution Phase 2 by preparing contributors, councils, and community members to take on expanded governance responsibilities while the Foundation continues to provide strategic oversight. This expansion requires both technical infrastructure and a community prepared to manage operations, treasury, and governance.
Together, we create a coordinated system of councils, contributors, and community members who collectively manage Astar, distributing control across the ecosystem. The result will be a leaner, more resilient network where multiple parties contribute to success, ensuring Astar can scale effectively as it grows.
Looking Ahead: Building the Collective
The Ambassador Fellowship and Governance Program provides the structure, tools, and incentives to make this expansion possible. The outcome depends on community response, sustained participation, and collective commitment to Astar's long-term success.
Astar's journey has always centered on building infrastructure that enables others to succeed. Now, that infrastructure extends to the community, creating pathways for anyone committed to web3 adoption and decentralized coordination to contribute meaningfully and earn recognition for their efforts.
