Astar Network is excited to introduce Astar Surge, a campaign hosted by top-tier Soneium projects, launching on December 18, 2024. This initiative will provide ASTR holders with new opportunities and actively contribute to the growth of the Astar ecosystem while preparing for Soneium’s mainnet.
Purpose: The Astar Surge Pre-Deposit Campaign offers ASTR holders the chance to deposit their tokens into dedicated contracts on Astar Network. In return, participants earn points for each participating Soneium dApp.
Earning Points: These points are redeemable for tokens from the participating projects during their respective Token Generation Events (TGEs). This creates an incentive for early adopters to participate while helping to grow the ecosystem.
Goal: The campaign is designed to deepen the utility of ASTR and foster stronger alignment with the Soneium ecosystem, driving growth and collaboration between both networks.
Expanding ASTR Utility and Ecosystem Integration
The Astar Surge campaign goes beyond rewards, marking a crucial phase in expanding ASTR's utility and ecosystem, as outlined in Astar Evolution 1.5. By using ASTR in the pre-deposit contracts, participants will help drive ASTR’s adoption within Soneium's ecosystem, aligning both projects’ long-term goals.
As ASTR holders deposit tokens into contracts, they’ll accumulate points that can be redeemed for project tokens from participating Soneium dApps, potentially qualifying participants for broader ecosystem incentive campaigns on Soneium. This ensures that ASTR continues to gain utility across the ecosystem, supporting both Astar and Soneium’s growth.
Ecosystem Growth
Key Soneium projects such as Sake Finance, Yay!, Untitled Bank, SoneX, and Kyo Finance are leading the campaign. Each project will deploy pre-deposit contracts on Astar Network, helping increase Total Value Locked (TVL) and visibility as the Soneium mainnet launch approaches.
About the Participating Projects
- Sake Finance: Sake is all about making decentralized finance easier, offering smooth asset swaps and exciting yield farming opportunities for Astar users.
- Yay!: Yay! brings a fun, social twist to Web3, combining community-driven features with decentralized finance on Soneium.
- Untitled Bank: Untitled Bank is creating a more inclusive financial space on Soneium, offering services like lending, borrowing, and leveraging to everyone in the ecosystem including ASTR holders.
- SoneX: SoneX is making it easy to swap tokens with speed and security, all while boosting liquidity and scalability within Soneium’s growing ecosystem.
- Kyo Finance: Kyo Finance helps users maximize their capital with advanced DeFi tools, including leveraged yield farming and staking available for the ASTR token.
By working with these projects, the campaign ensures that liquidity is prepared for migration to Soneium’s mainnet, setting the stage for a robust ecosystem right from the start.
Campaign Mechanics
The campaign introduces a robust technical foundation based on ERC-6551 token bound accounts, ensuring that participants retain ownership of their assets while interacting with the ecosystem. Each participant will interact with an Agent NFT—a smart contract wallet linked to their Agent NFT ownership.
This innovative approach, complemented by a secure infrastructure developed by Sake Finance and audited by PeckShield, enhances the integrity of all transactions.
How It Works
- Creating Agents: Users create an Agent through the Agent Factory and deposit ASTR or vASTR. ASTR deposits are automatically wrapped into WASTR for compatibility.
- Depositing Tokens: Users can deposit additional tokens into their Agents at any time using utility contracts like the WAstrDepositGateway.
- Post-Mainnet Transition: After the Soneium mainnet goes live, users can bridge their assets to the new ecosystem via their Agents. Withdrawals to Astar will only be allowed after the campaign’s timelock expires.
Each protocol participating in Astar Surge has its own Agent NFT collection, AgentFactory, and related contracts, ensuring interaction and migration of liquidity for its specific dApp. By combining cutting-edge technology, modular infrastructure, and robust security features, Astar Surge stands out as a highly innovative and participant-friendly campaign, setting the stage for a seamless transition to the Soneium ecosystem.
From an ASTR Holder’s Perspective
Stepping away from the technical details, the Astar Surge Campaign offers a straightforward experience for ASTR holders:
- Users prepare by ensuring they have ASTR or vASTR tokens in their wallets on Astar EVM, ready for deposits.
- Visit the Astar Surge landing page and select one or more projects.
- They can deposit their assets into smart contracts provided by any of the 5 participating dApps, with the flexibility to add extra tokens at any time during the campaign.
- Once tokens are deposited and liquidity is locked, users begin earning project points.
- After the Soneium Mainnet launch, participants will have the choice to transfer their assets to Soneium directly within the respective 5 dApps or redeem them on the Astar Network.
- During each participating dApp’s Token Generation Event (TGE), users can redeem their points for project tokens, unlocking tangible rewards.
Smart contracts are programmed with a timelock date set for February 1, ensuring tokens are not locked indefinitely. Users will be able to unlock and redeem their tokens upon the launch of the Soneium Mainnet or, as a fallback, withdraw their tokens on Astar EVM starting February 1st 2025.
This seamless process ensures a rewarding and user-friendly journey for ASTR holders.
One important point to note is that the campaign is neither conducted or being hosted by Astar Foundation or Soneium but is a community & ecosystem-led initiative.
Community Engagement and Regular Updates
Astar is committed to keeping the community informed and engaged throughout the campaign. Regular updates will feature project highlights and interactive AMA sessions with dApp teams, allowing participants to learn more about the projects they’re supporting.
Through transparency, education, and incentives, Astar Surge aims to mobilize a global community of token holders and developers, creating lasting value for ASTR.
The Next Step Towards Astar’s Future
The Astar Surge Campaign is aligned with Astar’s broader vision to become a chain-agnostic collective within the Soneium and the larger Superchain ecosystems. Making ASTR available on Soneium’s Ethereum L2 is a key milestone, paving the way for a successful Soneium mainnet launch.
This step forward marks an important milestone for Astar and its community, contributing to long-term value for all token holders and strengthening the interoperability between Astar and Soneium.
Join the Astar Surge Campaign
ASTR holders are encouraged to participate in this exciting opportunity to support the growth of both Astar and Soneium ecosystems. By taking part, they can earn rewards and help drive the success of the upcoming Soneium mainnet launch.
